First shed of the year!!

Last weekend I found my first antler shed. Looks as if it had JUST fallen off the night before. Now with the snow all melted I plan to get back out in the woods in full force this weekend and continue the search. My ultimate goal is to make a chandelier out of all these antlers. Hopefully something like this.

I finished the painting of Dexter! Its been over a year since I started it.

Have a great weekend.

Hawk Imprint

I was out for a nice long 4.5 hour hike today in the new snow. I love to see all the tracks that are very fresh. Its amazing how much activity happens in such a short amount of time, it just finish snowing early this morning. I saw coyote tracks, fox tracks, deer, and many I didnt know. Makes me think i need to get a track book. About half way into the 7 mile hike I summited a small rise deep in the woods. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a redtail hawk drop down out of a tree and grab a small squirrel. The hawk flew high up into an oak tree with the animal and proceeded to enjoy some breakfast. I was excited to check out the imprint left in the soft snow where the hawk attacked. Here is a shot I took with a small digi camera. I included one image with an outline of the feathers.
Happy Weekend !
